An unprepared deck is given to the audience, and as many who desire to may mix the cards. Meanwhile, you ask someone to choose a number, which he keeps to himself. Someone else names any card in a standard pack. Both selections are freely made, with no forces or collusion. The thoroughly shuffled deck is passed to the magician, and another spectator is invited to count down to the selected number, which the performer now hears for the first time--and the card found at that spot is the one randomly named!
